Music magazine feedback.

1.There are two photo shop documents. Which looks more like a music magazine?
-the second one
The second one
I think the first one looks more like a music magazine (because of the fonts) but I like the second one better although the second ones looks a little bit like a fashion magazine.
Definitely the second one, especially with the exposure of colour and then the masthead as they link together nicely
The second one, i don’t think the first one has enough colour to it and I really like the minimalistic connotations of the second one.

Please answer the following questions based on whichever front cover you chose in the previous question.
The genre of music that is being published in this specific issue of my magazine is hip-hop/RnB.

2.What would you suggest I do to the front cover to represent the genre more accurately?
- Include artists that are of that genre? I don’t even know if you can do that but???
Add cover lines which include names of bands/artist who are already very popular among that genre
Change the fonts maybe.
Possibly include some familiar names of R+B artists in your cover lines
I don’t think the font chosen for the masthead particularly represents that genre, maybe an edgier one?

3.How could I make the front cover more attention grabbing?
- Make the feature artist’s name bolder, maybe by making the size bigger, or use a different font? You could also use more vibrant colours?
The mast head could be bolder to stand out more?
Some text could stand out more than others
Different typefaces/colours
Add another colour.

4.What front cover elements do I need to add to the FP?
- Perhaps a pull quote from the feature artist, or maybe a sentence that’s short, snappy and about them?? That probably didn't help at all  sorry L
A pull quote
Pull quote
A pull quote /big RnB /hip Hop artist being featured in it.

5.Are there any general comments you would like to add to help me improve the presentation of my front cover?
Change the font of the date so it’s easier to read and fits in more with the rest of the front cover.
I agree with the comment above about changing the font of the date
The date is hard to read and on the second one I think his name should stand out more cause he is the selling point of the magazine.
I like the boxes around the text, it’s very uniform – maybe you could also make them out of line with each other rather than all in a row?

Maybe change the colour of your subheadings?

  1. You are beginning to catch up on research and planning. I order to reach the higher Levels you would need to show more evidence e.g. planning the design of your front cover masthead (font, colour); list the articles which will appear on the contents page; show planning for the dps interview - questions that you will ask. You could also show how you have looked at existing interviews in magazines for ideas about your interview. This is good planning.
