potential front cover images.

I asked my model to pose like this because I thought it would show the learning aspect of college. The reasons why I didn’t choose this as my front cover are: it is barely a mid-shot. Therefore she looks quite small and is almost swallowed in by the surroundings instead of being the main subject of the image. The second reason was that she was not looking at the camera and I needed a photo that consisted of a direct gaze. The photograph also didn’t represent enough of the fun aspect of college.

I liked the lighting in this image as well as the fact that the model was busy reading an educational book. But once again there was no direct gaze. Another problem with this image was that her hair was covering the majority of her face. However, I did like the view of her jacket in this image as one of the articles most wanted in the magazine was about the latest college fashion.

This image was quite successful as it shows the model smiling whilst learning. This represents both the educational and the enjoyable aspects of college. The reason why I did not choose this image was because there was no direct gaze. The lighting also hid her face which is an important part of the image because it represents the age of the stereotypical college student.

I liked the lighting in this image. It enhanced every aspect of the model as well as what she was doing. Of course I could not use this image because of the blur on her right hand as well as the fact that she had an indirect gaze.

This is the image I chose for my front cover because I liked everything about it. It showed the models outfit to represent the latest fashion, it showed the model enjoying herself while learning which represented both the educational as well as enjoyable side of college. This image also consisted of a direct gaze as well as great lighting. The only thing I would have to edit is the top of the photograph. I will have to cut it off so that the model is larger on the front page of my college magazine.

college magazine photoshoot plan.

College magazine photo shoot plan.

Who?  The model of my photo shoot (and the model that will be featured on my front cover) will be female because the article that was most wanted in the results of the questionnaire was about the latest fashion and stereotypically, females are better representatives of fashion.

Where?  My photo shoot will take place in a setting where college students are most likely to be seen. E.g. the mall, college lecture rooms, the library, college grounds etc.

Pose?  The pose that I would like my model to show would be a pose that shows what she is wearing (the latest fashion) as well as shows both the educational and enjoyable side of college.

Costumes and props? The model that will be on my front cover will be a stereotypical representation of what a female college student would look like. She’ll be wearing clothes that are in fashion but that are not “over the top” so that students who see him will still have enough confidence to reach her level of fashion.

What is a magazine ?

What Is A Magazine?

A magazine is a media form. It is a medium which can be presented digitally as well as printed text. Each magazine has its own genre , some similar to others, which effects how the media product is presented. For example : A magazine which consists of information that enlightens you about films of a comedic genre , would most likely use bright colours which represent fun and happiness. A magazine that is black and white would be more serious , like a news paper.the masthead of each magazine has a particular font which also suits the genre of the magazine. "Seventeen Magazine" has a feminine target audience , therefore the font which is used to advertise articles by using cover lines on the front cover is very vibrant a feminine. the colours of the masthead and cover lines also change but remain colours that connote femininity
(pink , purple etc. ). In some cases , the colour that is used throughout the layout and front page of a magazine changes , depending on the theme of a particular issue or the season in which the issue is released. It is rare that a magazine is found without a main image , and this main image either relates to an article that is mentioned inside the medium or is an image that attracts the interests of the target audience. It can range from being a computer games to a supermodel depending on what audience the magazine wishes to attract. Usually on the left of the magazine front cover , there are buzzwords and puffs that will help persuade the consumer to buy the media product. On each magazine , the front page includes the price , issue number and also the bar-code so that it is possible to keep track of the number of issues that are sold.

Contents of magazines may differ according to their genre. In gaming magazines , you are most likely to find articles about the newest gadgets , games or cheats... whereas in fashion magazines you are more likely to find information about the latest fashion trends. In certain cases , magazines have unique selling points , for example: having an interview with an artist that has not been featured on any other magazine. Other magazines tend to give away what are known as FREE BEEZE. These are usually things that will persuade the consumer to buy the magazine such as a furry animal key chain with a children's magazine or some mascara with a beauty magazine. Some magazines consist of tips on art , tips on games , hair advice etc. but of course , this all depends on the genre of the magazine.
